The people behind Captivating Nature
A boutique company built on a genuine love of wildlife — and the patience to photograph it well.
Original trips, run by photographers
Captivating Nature is a UK-based boutique tour operator specialising in small-group wildlife photography holidays. Over more than fifteen years we have built a loyal client base, with a large number of repeat guests from around the world — including many who travel with us from Europe and across the United States.
We are not a commercial tour operator. Every trip is carefully designed for small, personal groups rather than coachloads. That philosophy runs through everything: the size of our groups, the guides we choose, the locations we scout, and the time we take to get the shot.
The company is run personally by Des Ong, an award-winning wildlife photographer. When you travel with Captivating Nature, you travel with photographers who planned the trip — not subcontracted reps.
Why travel with us
Genuinely small groups of three to six guests. Accurate itineraries where advertised days are days at location, not days in transit from your home country. Aside from members of our team, we are supported by experienced local private guides with a proven track record. Carefully pinpointed locations that maximise wildlife and minimise travel. And, we believe, one of the most competitive rates in the UK for trips of this kind.
Who you’ll travel with
Photographers with decades of combined field experience and a genuine passion for wildlife.

Des Ong
Des is a professional wildlife photographer based in the UK. Born in the tropics, he grew up with a firm interest in the natural world. Wildlife photography is a combination of his two passions — art and nature.
Even though Des feels most at home in the rainforests, he is equally adapted to the cold northern environment. His work is widely published and has been awarded in various international competitions. Des is also a keen advocate of primate conservation.

Andrew Robinson
Andy has been interested in wildlife photography for over four decades. He and his wife, Fiona, have been lucky enough to live in two houses where red squirrels come into their garden. Over the last fifteen years he has got to know these adorable native mammals pretty well.
His main photographic interest is camera trapping — mainly of tricky nocturnal mammals, including, over the last three years, wild polecats. He finds the difficulty appealing.

Dan Willis
Dan is a passionate photographer specialising in British mammals. His favourite subjects include the elusive otter, the nocturnal badger and the graceful hare. Dan's photography reflects his deep respect for nature and a commitment to highlighting the unique wildlife that thrives in Britain.
Dan brings enthusiasm and dedication to everything he does. His work not only showcases the wonders of British wildlife but also inspires others to appreciate and protect these incredible creatures.
